Beauty: St Tropez Gradual Tan in Shower Lotion
I have to say, St Tropez are killing it with their marketing campaigns at the moment. I have seen them everywhere and have been completely sucked into the advertising around their new Gradual Tan In Shower Lotion.
I am generally not a fake tan user. I find it too much faff and can’t be dealing with stained bedsheets and patchy palms. Saying that, I have become more interested in it recently, as getting older has made me far more aware of the sun dangers – not just skin cancer but generally skin damage and wrinkles! Fake tan may have to become my new BFF.
This gradual tan was the perfect solution for me – a no hassle, quick and almost foolproof offering from St Tropez. I couldn’t resist the hype and then when I saw non-blogger friends raving about it on Facebook I had to give it a go. It took me a few attempts to track it down in Boots as it keeps selling out! A good sign surely.
So – what is this gradual tan all about and how do you use it? It’s very simple. You can see the instructions on the back of pack above, but this is how I did it:
1) Shower as normal.
2) Step out of the shower and apply the gradual tan to body – I used a decent amount and rubbed it in in circles. It was super easy to apply as the wet skin helps it glide quickly. I applied it to my feet and hands last.
3) Wash palms in the shower, turn off the shower (don’t want to waste water!) and put a timer on your phone.
4) Have a mooch around for 3 minutes. It will be a long 3 minutes. I dried my fingers very slightly and just looked on my iPad.
5) Once the time is up, simply get back into the shower and wash off the tan.
6) Dry yourself gently with a towel.
A massive benefit to this gradual tanner is that it makes no mess in the shower at all, and I was able to pat myself dry with my towel without any colour coming off – absolute winner. I’ve heard people say that it doesn’t smell like the usual fake tan and although it doesn’t when you apply it, a few hours later the tell tale biscuit-y scent does start to come through. I only noticed this the first day of using it though.
So the results? After day 1 I could tell a tiny difference and my skin looked slightly more tanned – barely noticeable but it is a gradual tanner so you wouldn’t expect it to be full on. After a couple more days of use I could really notice that my skin looked more golden and received comments from people at work on how tanned I looked.
Overall I am a big fan and will continue to use this over summer!

But how did you get it everywhere? Does it not streak?
Super intrigued about this tan! I am so rubbish at applying any sort of fake tan though, so sods law I'd still manage to make a mess of something this easy haha. Just wanted to say as well, thanks so much for your comment on my last post. Reassuring to hear that you've been through it too and that it was fine! I've got a cheek to be scared of needles after all the tattoos I've got haha xx
